This election really is the last chance for a final say referendum on Brexit.
A Conservative majority on December 12th means Hard Brexit on January 31st. The only way to stop that happening in this constituency is for voters to unite behind the party that came clear 2nd in 2017: Labour.
The most accurate tactical voting site at the 2017 election - tactical.vote - backs Labour this time around as does Gina Miller’s Remain United site.
A Labour-led government would immediately request an Article 50 extension in order to deliver a final say referendum with options between a softer Brexit (with single market alignment and a customs union) or Remain and hold this within 6 months (May or June 2020). The referendum result be will binding in law and implemented immediately.
Jonny Roberts, your Labour candidate, has been a prominent campaigner for Remain in 2016 and for a referendum since as well as championing freedom of movement and extending voting rights to all U.K. residents at Labour’s most recent party conference. He would campaign passionately for Remain in Labour’s final say referendum.
Roberts said: “I know you’ve all been bombarded with claims that the Liberals are best placed in this constituency but much of this is based on local and European elections where many Labour voters shifted to the Liberals in order to send a message to my party that we need a new, final referendum on Brexit. Thankfully the message was received and a vote for Labour is the best path to a public vote on Brexit if Wantage voters can unite behind us.”
